Momsdish has a grill recipe for you. This season, you will definitely want to try this shish kabob recipe. Afterall, summertime means kabobs.

Ingredients for the Summertime Kabobs

  • 3 pounds of beef (top sirloin or strip steak)
  • 1/4 cup of low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup of teriyaki sauce
  • 1 tablespoon of steak seasoning
  • 1 large green bell pepper cut into cubes
  • 1 large red bell pepper cut into cubes
  • 1 large yellow bell pepper cut into cubes
  • 8 ounces of mushrooms
  • 1 large onion cut into pieces
  • 1 tablespoon of salt
  • 1 tablespoon of ground black pepper

Preparing the Beef and Veggies

To start, you need to cut the beef for the kabobs. Cut the meat into cubes. Next, make a marinade for the meat using the soy sauce, teriyaki sauce, steak seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix everything together a place in a Ziploc bag. Put the beef cubes in the Ziploc bag with the marinade. Marinate the meat for at least six hours in the refrigerator. After the meat has marinated, skewer the meat with the vegetables.

The vegetable you will use are onions, peppers, and mushrooms. When you slice the onion for the kabobs, you will cut the onion into four pieces. Next, half each piece of onion again, so you will have triangular pieces. As far as your onion selection goes, you can opt to use yellow, red, or white.

After you cut your onion, you will want to slice up your peppers. To give the kabob plenty of color, you will want to select a medley of red, yellow, and green bell peppers. Cut the peppers similar in size to the beef. Finally, add white bottom, cremini, or portobello mushrooms that have also been cut to be around the same size as the beef cubes.

Preparing & Grilling the Kabobs

If you opt to use wood skewers, you will want to soak them in water for at least 10 minutes before grilling in order to help prevent them from burning. The better option is to choose reusable skewers. Now, you are ready to grill the kabobs. Preheat the grill to medium-high. Once the grill is ready, you can put the kabobs on the grill. Grill each side of the kabob for about three minutes. Finally, once you are finished cooking the kabobs, allow the kabobs to rest for about five minutes.
