This museum has been in operation since 1989 and has been transporting people from Nashville to Lebanon, Watertown, Baxter, Cookeville, and Monterey, Tennessee.
What Is The Tennessee Central Railway Museum?
The Tennessee Central Railway Museum is operated by a volunteers who spend their Saturdays restoring and maintaining the museums equipment. The museum’s railway collections includes passenger cars, cabooses, freight cars, and locomotives, and it’s a IRS 501(c)(3) Federal income tax-exempt organization. Any donations made to the museum are tax-deductible.
The railway originally stretched 248 miles from Harriman, Tennessee, to Hopkinsville, Kentucky. It opened for operation in 1884, and remained open until 1968 when the last Tennessee Central train car was sold.
